Steam download very slow windows 10#
I ended up buying a Teamgroup 512GB microSD to use on Windows 10 to hold me over until I can afford a 1TB or 2TB 2230 upgrade. I have 512GB internal SSD and it gets filled quickly with dual-boot and larger games like RDR2, DOOM Eternal, FH5, and Halo MCC. I understand why Valve went with 2230 form-factor, but it's disappointing given how expensive they are for 1TB+, coming in at $175-$210 for 1TB compared to $70-$100 for 1TB 2280 drives. SD may perform similar to the internal SSD in game performance, but the download times are twice as long, and transfers of files from a fast USB-C drive can take five times longer. On help forums you'd generally be told you have a counterfeit card, which isn't the case for our cards, and many who have had success in this thread. The verification phase is much faster now hitting upwards of 100MB/s, which is my microSD card's max rating for read speed.

Massive improvement.Īfter using GParted or KDE Partition Manager my speeds are generally around 20MB/s for the first 25% of a download, then 8-16MB/s for the next 60%, then back up to 20MB/s for the last 15%. It took me 10-12hrs to download God of War.

What lead me to use GParted and KDE Partition Manger was that after using the built-in Game Mode Format Tool I was getting downloads that would cycle from around 4-8MB/s down to 0MB/s, then back to 4-8MB/s and back down to 0MB/s. Originally posted by to hear you're able to get a replacement!
